This book is more than just a photo album—it's an in-depth exploration of Andrey Novikov's artistic practice over three years, from 2019 to 2022. It brings together four major projects:
"Soft and Not Very…," "Summer in a Box or All Inclusive," "Children’s Games," and "Gravity." Each project reflects the artist's unique vision and his philosophical reflections on life, memory, and culture.
"Soft and Not Very…" explores the theme of childhood and play, where soft toys become symbols of both innocence and maturity. Bears, rabbits, and other "toys" gain character, becoming actors in serious narratives that mirror the adult world.
"Summer in a Box or All Inclusive" is a visual metaphor for lost summers, enclosed in confined spaces. Scenes of leisure transform into a philosophical meditation on freedom and limitation.
"Children’s Games" takes viewers into the world of first memories, capturing the fleeting images of childhood that leave an indelible mark. Andrey's canvases reflect gestures and figures that embody sensations preserved across a lifetime.
"Gravity" is a philosophical series about the interaction of matter and space, where figures seem to float weightlessly, exploring questions of existence and attraction.
The book is presented in two languages—English and Russian—making it accessible to a wide audience. A significant milestone was achieved when it was included in the
research collection of the New York Public Library (NYPL) in the section of Eastern European Art. This inclusion recognizes its cultural and academic value.
Currently, the book is not available for sale, but it can be accessed through the NYPL research catalog and downloaded as digital version directly from this page. This recognition stands as one of the most significant institutional achievements in Andrey Novikov’s career.
